Starting Jan. 30, 2023, you will no longer be able to create real estate sales and rental listings using your Facebook business page. In addition, all existing listings created from Facebook business pages will be deleted.
Visit the Facebook Help Center to get instructions on how to download your information before the deadline.
What Does This Mean for the Future?
The ability to create free real estate sales or rental listings is not going away. Listings will be allowed on Facebook Marketplace using your personal profile. You will also still be allowed to turn listings into ads or boosted posts.
What is Facebook Marketplace?
Marketplace is an e-commerce platform for individuals and businesses to buy and sell items locally on Facebook. The service is free and available for anyone with an active Facebook account.

Am I reading this correctly? This just applies to Marketplace listings right? This wouldn’t apply to an IDX link of your listing that you posted on your business page, correct? The text is a little unclear, but the link to Facebook (sorry…Meta) seems to be focused on Marketplace.
No, this applies to your Business pages (if you created). All real estate listings will be deleted from our Businesses page. The only option to post real estate listings will be in Market Place
Do you have a link to that on Meta’s site? The link in the article (here) goes to a page on the Meta Business Help Center and if you read that post, it is solely focused on Marketplace and not being able to post to Marketplace via your Page, but instead having to use your personal profile to do so. I’m not really worried about Marketplace as it’s just a fancy craigslist and I don’t use it. Whether I can post as a Page or Personal Profile to Marketplace doesn’t bother me too much (although I do think it’s a… Read more »
Can we still post Solds from our business page?
Can’t post from business page, only from personal page?
What’s the point of the business page then? Makes no sense to me.
Agree, Tracy.
That’s the general consensus in my office as well.
the only pro to having a business page is prescheduling posts, other than that, I dont see the point either.
That was my question too! Use out personal and tag our business page?
Where did you get this information? I can’t find it directly on Meta/FB…only screenshots .
I got an email from Facebook about a week ago.

I got a message from Facebokk several days ago announcing the changes.
Meta will only approve ads for listings via their approved vendors such as chime, ylopo, etc.
This is a powerplay by big tech and yet again NAR is sitting on their hands.
I got the email from Facebook about a week ago. There’s no way in hell that I’m going to post listing pages from my personal page instead of my business page. That makes no sense. I think that this is just another ploy to get agents to pay for ads eventually.
And it takes from the privacy of our personal pages. I specifically keep them separate for that reason.
I wonder what TREC thinks of this. Posting from our personal page. Are we going to be able to add our business information to stay legal in our advertisement? Can we share our listings from Navica to our business page? This is all unclear to me. It looks like FB is encouraging for sale by owners. What will this do to our industry? I think Texas Realtors & National Association of Realtors need to get involved in this. I do not understand what Meta is trying to do.
I do agree with this occasionally I will post from my personal page if I’m in a hurry now I haven’t gotten a slap on the hand but there’s no way I’m going to use a platform that they sell cars and dogs and cats it’s a garage sale type of market place to me. And what are we supposed to do with our business page now?
What’s the point of having a business page then? Meta is messing up.
Wow! It’s becoming impossible to keep up with all the constant changes in rules.
Does this apply to Instagram also?
It sounds like we can have a FB business page but we cannot post sale or rental listing there.
I don’t see the point as Realtors we need to have a business page to promote listings I don’t want to have all people in my personal account, that is why is personal , I don’t want friends or family get tired of my business listings on my personal page, then what will happens will all other business accounts like restaurants or online shopping businesses accounts are they also need to switch from business to personal; account to advertise their products or it will only affect us as Realtor ?
~Other ways to reach buyers and renters on Facebook~
While the ability to post vehicle, real estate and rentals listings from Facebook business Pages will no longer be available on Marketplace, you can continue reaching vehicle and home buyers or home renters on Facebook in other ways.
•Create Marketplace listings from your personal profile: You can create Marketplace listings for vehicles, home sales and home rentals from your personal profile.
I honestly don’t want to post $1 million listing next to people selling dogs cats and cars
The Facebook/Meta link seems to say something different than what Texas Realtors is saying in this article. Hopefully we can get some clarity. I usually do not post on FB Marketplace as it seems more of a garage sale type forum.
Where’s the “like” button when I need it?
If you are concerned about mixing your business with your personal page, consider making another personal page to only promote your real estate business through your new personal page.
Best wishes to all.
‘Sounds like this would be a quasi business page; what is the purpose of a business page then??
I cannot find any info on this besides yours.
Why can’t you post on Marketplace from your business page??? Why does it have to be from your personal page?
See http://www.Facebook.com/industries/real-estate.
@TexasRealEstate – I believe your information is misleading/inaccurate. This ONLY pertains to posting real estate listings on FB Marketplace. This is not a ban on posting listings to Facebook business pages in general. Please review the link that others have posted in comments. The title of the post directly from Facebook says “Creation of vehicle and home listings from Facebook business Page discontinued on FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE.” You are doing REALTORS a disservice by telling them to post listings on the personal profiles as this directly contradicts Facebook’s Terms of Service and could get agent’s Facebook accounts banned!
There seems to be a disconnect. Per FB …..‘Starting January 30, 2023, Facebook Marketplace will no longer support the ability to create real estate or rentals listings using your business’s Facebook Page.’ KEYWORD: Facebook Marketplace Currently, you are allowed to add Real Estate ‘Inventory’ on FB Marketplace and choose your FB Business Page to associate the Real Estate listing(s). My interpretation of the new rule is: 1- you can post Real Estate listing on your FB business page (you can not link/share on FB MP) 2-If you want to post a RE Listing on FB Market it has to come… Read more »
